Not even a polar vortex could deter our intrepid Instagram fans this winter: while most of us were cozying up indoors, Canadian Yvonne Yuen braved the snow and ice north of Toronto to capture a sublime moment frozen (literally) in time.
But even if you’re one of the many warming by the fireplace, you needn’t miss out on these seasonal scenes. We asked Travel + Leisure’s followers to embrace the chill and share their snow-filled winter photos from around the world, using the hashtag #TLPicks.
And take on the cold they did: T+L fan @byualumnus shared a photo of the typically bustling Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis, which was desolate one winter morning when temperatures fell to negative 27 degrees. Many destinations that are known for their distinct characteristics seem almost unrecognizable under a veil of snow, such as @spillingthebeans’s white wonderland in Cappadocia, Turkey. Other locales seem to just become more beautiful, such as @nalmazami’s picture of old-world charm in Innsbruck, Austria.
So suit up—or at least grab a cup of cocoa—and enjoy these beautiful winter scenes from around the world.
